An encounter of bodies, cultures, and visions for a new European creation
From 14 to 24 July 2025, in Athens, the final meeting of the first series of Biokinetics Workshops took place — a formative and creative experience that brought together performers with and without disabilities from Italy, Portugal, and Greece.
The initiative represented a fundamental milestone of the Biokinetics Project, supported by the Creative Europe Programme, and laid the groundwork for the new performance production that will premiere in May 2026.
Under the artistic direction of Jiorgos Christakis, choreographer and director of DAGIPOLI DANCE Co (Greece), the group engaged in ten days of physical research, experimentation, and exchange. The workshop explored the body as a tool of communication and connection, overcoming physical and linguistic barriers through the universal language of dance.
The workshop provided participants with a space for dialogue and mutual growth, where diversity and inclusion became the driving forces of artistic creation.
Artists and trainers worked together to define the physical vocabulary of the upcoming performance, blending elements of contemporary dance, improvisation, and sensory exploration.
The Biokinetics Project is the result of collaboration between:
- DAGIPOLI DANCE Co (Greece)
- Vo’Arte (Portugal)
- Fondazione Mantovani Castorina Onlus (Italy)
- En Drasei (Greece)
An experience that left a profound human and artistic mark, strengthening intercultural dialogue and reaffirming the value of art as a space for encounter, accessibility, and shared transformation.
